GROOVY!!!

An almost perfect loop! I think the bass line melody and the other melodic part is enough to hold it together. The only thing that annoys me is the sound of that little melodic part. I can't really place what instrument it is supposed to be, but the sound with the fast scale then the trill; it sounds too "midi-like" for my taste. A higher quality sample would have been much better.

I would be extremely surprised if this doesn't get picked up and used in a game. I just hope they do it justice! :)

WOW!!! Thanks that means a lot! But the melody line is a rhodes.

I know nothing about the siege of your inspiration, but can without trouble, imagine a daring escape... The citizens of a great town grab their most prized possessions, children and loved ones as they head for cover. Emotional however very groovy with fantastic beats. I was interested upon hearing the first bit of the intro, a nice relaxing synth, but when that first drum beat came in I knew this was gona be epic :) I love groovy beats that build up in parts to create interesting rhythms. And when the bouncy bass synth introduced itself it just sounded so cool!

The beat change at around 2:00 was very effective, creating a heightened sense of suspense and hurry.

The added percussion part that came in at 2:10 really got my foot tapping. The panning here was a nice touch too.

As usual, a great use of the orchestral instruments. I wouldn't expect any less from you lol. The themes are simple and catchy, whilst layered with interesting and tension building chords. The brass in the background sounded really awesome, and when the brass suddenly came into the front of the track it felt really explosive and dramatic. Then in other parts the strings would come forward, washing over you like a refreshing cold shower. Strange simile I know... but that's how it sounded to me lol.

What I love about your music is that it's very varied, whilst keeping an effective and catchy theme, especially when it comes to the orchestral parts. It really makes for interesting listening.

What ever you do, don't stop making music. I'm adding this to my favorites.

D3vilsheep responds:

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you appreciate my "varied" style. The image of the people running for cover is what I was going for in most of the piece so congrats for getting that visual. Thanks again for the excellent review!

Wowzes!

I love your style of dance music, because it doesn't just have the clinched "umph umph umph umph" continuous beat. The beats you use are switched up. This one is more a drum n bass-esk beat.

Only one thing... And it truly annoys me to criticize you on this. You used a cheering sample in your track. CURSES YOUZE!!!! I'm really sorry Waterflame, but personally I think cheering samples in music sounds tacky, lame and it implies a gigantic ego. Haha. I'm not saying you do in fact have a over bloated ego, I'm sure you're an incredibly nice guy.

But anyway, aside from that tiny annoyance, this is an amazing track and really reminds me of your old style, as you said. Keep up the amazing work.

Oh god I know you probably get so many requests from your listeners to review their tracks, but since I'm only the 7th person to review this and there's a good chance you might actually read this, I might as well give it a swing. If you have any time on your hands would you please care to listen to my track "Escape Of The Leprechaun" ? It would be greatly appreciated. If you do review it, be harsh, honest and don't hold back any criticisms.

Waterflame responds:

hoy :D long one. yes i do read every single review, i just dont reply to them all after a while, since it would take simply too much time in the morning ^^' im bad at replying in my opinion.

actually i agree with you on the cheering. wich is why this is my first track ever to have that. i just couldnt help but feeling like i was really in a crowd dancing with this one. so it just helps the festival feeling in my opinion. it wassnt ment to be "cheering for me" X) more like "listen, were at a big concert / outdoor rave kicking it!"

and when i get on my feet again ill be sure to kick it to this one.

yeah you noticed my old styles in there aswell? ^^ its cause of the arpegio melodies i think. it seems like i also love breakbeat /dnb drums as much as 4onfloor, its just that i like to mix em up. actually in alot of my songs i go from 4of to breaks and back without anyone really noticing, lol.

thanks for the review!

Hmm...

Very interesting. The first thing I would have to say is that I wouldn't call this drum and bass. Or if it is, then it is a certain style of DnB I am ignorant of.

Personally, I couldn't see myself listening to this as music by itself, but as background music for a game this would would create a good atmosphere. This was meant to be slightly a-tonal correct? Although it does have a 3-chord progression, the bass and drums make it sound kind of tune-less. I don't know quite what you were going for but... It's interesting.

BTW I reviewed, rated and downloaded your track, "Dancing In The Dark" and it is now sitting quietly in my iPod :)

THanks man

Sweeeeeeeet...

Minimal dark DnB. Very effective! I love the reese; dark and mysterious, yet powerful. The lead is very interesting. A-tonal but with essence of tune, enough to be catchy lol. Its a very nice sound as well, the lead. Apart from the lead getting slightly more complicated further into the song, it doesn't really progress. However I think this is brilliant the way it is. It creates a very dark atmosphere, especially when the lead starts to glitch about half way. I also think you used the drums very well, they are groovy and create a nice beat, without ruining the minimal effect. It also loops very well, for game purposes. I see that it has been used in a game... which after I finish typing this I will be sure to click on.

Thanks for reviewing my stuff btw!

Urpule responds:

THanks man I LOVE YOU

GREAT JOB

This would go perfectly in a horror game. I only have one tip; next time choose a better piano sample. This one sounds slightly too "midi-ish" if you know what I mean. But apart from that really good job. It has a good flow, it loops seamlessly and good use of effects.

Keep it up!

InvisibleObserver responds:

I agree with comment on piano, while I don't want it sounding 100% real, the cheese-midi-piano-factor is there. In the longer version that I began making changes too, I've already replaced the piano.

Your review is appreciated.

Hmm

Uhh... this may be your first song, and this may be a little harsh, but you make really good flash and I would just stick to that.
